A Newfoundland variant of a widespread traditional folk song from the British Isles. In most versions a young man or young woman causes his(her) deceased lover to return from the grave due to excessive grieving on the part of the living survivor. The ghost spends one last night then departs forever. In this version it is not at all obvious that the visiting lover is in fact a ghost. |
