Messages from Brian:
Update 3/22/2002: I auditioned last Saturday for a band here in town, and made the gig. The band liked my vibe on guitar, and hired me. I am an official member of 'The Tarnished'. We have a page here on mp3.com: http://www.mp3.com/the_tarnished . I also picked up some new gear for the live shows. If you are in the Dallas area, I will post dates soon. There will be at least one Deep Ellum gig a month if all goes well. I've put all my personal music work on hold now in favor of my new gig. Thanks for all the support on this work here. I will add a couple of new things as promised soon though....Brian
Update 3/4/2002: I am close to actually getting in a band at this point. I also have some new music on the way. It's been over a year now since I put this music out here. I also got a nod on the Steve Vai website in the news section last year for a radio station I joined in honor of him. If you listened to my music you'll know that I'm not a shredder but I though my music at least broke up the pace a bit on the radio station. Thanks to Rich Pike(Web admin for www.vai.com) for including me in the list of people that joined in the station. I got great feedback from that, and it was very unexpected. I'll be adding some tracks in the next couple of weeks....Brian
"Gotta Start Somewhere" is, IMHO, a reasonable attempt at me getting back into music more seriously. It's been seven years since I gave the old guitar anything more than an hour or two a week. I owe some thanks to some very important people for giving me support when I didn't think this was worth doing: Mom and dad, Ken Burtch(hes here on this site and you must listen to him now!), Mike Webster, Atomic Toyz, OsTone, Schmuck, the infamous Zaphod, and all my friends on the Steve Vai message board at www.vai.com. This stuff is rough around the edges but it has heart. It's more than I've ever given music even when I was studying it in college. These tracks on GSS are "as is" LOL. I'm off to start a cover band for a while and get back into the jam. I'd charge less for the CD if you're into charitable donations, but $5.99 is the lowest price mp3.com will allow. All donations will go to the B.D.E.T.R.F (Brian's Digital Eight Track Recorder Fund). Thanks in advance for anytime you spend listening to my music. I really hope you like it.
Brian

A blusey ditty, with a bit of electronica over the top. A rubber duck has never hurt anyone that I know of ;-) Vocals: Mike Webster Copyright 2001 | MP3.com CD: Gotta Start Somewhere - buy it!

Kind of a hip/hop, electronica, blues thing as you're riding your horse out on the range here in lovely Texas. Copyright 2001 | MP3.com CD: Gotta Start Somewhere - buy it!
