Folk music may slip in and out of fashion, but the passion and purity remain true. For Cyrus Clarke, who has been playing various strains of American music for over thirty years, the folk scene has always been home. As a founding member of acclaimed groups such as the Cache Valley Drifters and the Acousticats, he keeps a deep interest in traditional and modern string music and his latest effort has the sensibilities of great Americana blended with a new horizon in west coast folk. Clarke is a dedicated songsmith and the band highlights original music from California and the edge of the west. One is also likely to hear a sprinkling of Kate Wolf and Woodie Guthrie right along with Merle Haggard and the Dead. The Cyrus Clarke Band features Tom Corbett on mandolin, Barney Tower on twang, Gary Sangenitto playing bass, and percussionist/drummer Tom Lackner working the groove.

This tunes tells the story of a character who is witnessing the railroad coming to his small California town. It describes his and the community's reaction with sort of an edgy, gothic, bad-ass western sound.
