My heart and prayers go out to all those that have been touched by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Words could never express the deep sense of loss that we've all felt during this time. The only thing we can take comfort in, is how we've responded to this act of cowardice. The bravery, the compassion, the humanity that we've all shown towards each other during this very difficult time. John Winthrop once wrote, "...for we must consider that we shall be as a City upon a hill, the eyes of all people are upon us..." He wasn't talking about New York City at the time, but it could very well apply now...Cause the terrorist chose New York City because it is the shining jewel in America, it is the city upon the hill, and they thought by destroying buildings that it would somehow change New York City...But we are still that City Upon a Hill, only now the world knows us not for tall buildings, commercial centers, but it knows us as a place of compassion, love, and unity. God bless America, God bless New York.
