STUMPWATER
Cabot, AR
STUMPWATER, of Cabot, Arkansas, is a Back Porch picking group whose musical dedication is solely to having fun at what they do. Their efforts include traditional bluegrass, old-time, and gospel.
B.J. HIRSCH has been playing bluegrass fiddle since she was a young-un. A veteran of old-time fiddle contests, she provides everything from the hard drive of Orange Blossom Special to the plaintive melody of Maidens Prayer.
JIM DALTON plays guitar and handles most of the lead singing, although he can find a harmonic counter to any song the group can come up with. He is also the author of Stumpwater, the groups theme song, and Grandpas Farm, which is based on his own childhood.
JOYCE DALTON handles duties on the upright bass. She has an uncanny sense of time (an internal metronome) which provides a strong foundation for the music. You guessed it!! Shes Jim Daltons other half.
DANNY WATSON plays mandolin for the group and, although he sometimes sings lead, he provides the high voice. Noted for his precision, clarity and strength of voice, Dannys talents are particularly showcased in songs such as Praising the Risen Lamb, on which he sings lead, and Gods Grand Chariot.
WILL CAMPBELL is the low voice that rounds out the group. He accompanies with a simple, primitive three-finger banjo style. Will is also the author of Ginny Lou, which is about his wife, McGintys Legend, and I Didnt Know Who It Was.
