Born with music in his blood, Joey Bowen has been singing since he was 3 years old. Hailing from Detroit, this former front man and creative force for
San Diego based Hot Chicken Stew has created a stir commandeering the stage with his blue eyed soul vocals.
Approaching his projects with vision, his songs not only brim with raw energy and catchy musical phrasing, but overflow with clear and thought provoking lyrics. Past credits include winning the Michigan Best-Unsigned Band Award singing with General Clusterfunk, and the Discmaker Best Unsigned Band with Hot Chicken Stew in Southern California, competing against 1100 bands earned them the 1997 Artists World Series title and $25,000.
Bowen's relentless vocals have found him sitting in with musical icons the Temptations, Red Hot Chili drummer Chad Smith, opening for rock legend Ted Nugent, and jamming with Stevie Wonder.
Stepping out with his 1999 solo debut Begin to Begin, Joey's untamed energy and writing ability has garnered him a reputation as an entertainer that bridges the generations of rock and soul. Begin to Begin features Bowen playing every instrument writing and composing every song, singing lead and back-up vocals, as well as co-producing the album.
For rhythm and blues that rock, the recent CD release In This World showcases Bowen's songwriting and musical skills with band members Mike McMahon on bass, Hecter Maldonado on guitar, Ben Moore on keyboard, and drummer Kevin Dow.
A song writing machine and consummate performer, Joey Bowen and his band mates have mesmerized fans from coast to coast, and everywhere in between.
