One day the impossible happened, 3 high school students got their schedules to coincide, became the Amoebas and recorded 4 songs the way they were supposed to...with Anton on drum (still only one drum), Oggie on guitar and vocals, and Dean James on lead guita r and
vocals. Together they produced the landmark recordings of "Terror In The Water" and "Hey
Wow, We're the Amoebas". Also recorded that day were two new songs: The first being Oggie's first punk composition "Primal Scream", and group collaboration "Ode To Hellen Keller".
The 2 day recording session is believed to have taken place in either late July or early August, 1982. |

A new direction for the band with a bass heavy grooving sound, flanged guitar and surrealist lyrics about picking up chicks...written and sung by Anton & Dean. Band tracks were captured on tape at Oggies house on December 4, 1983ˇ |

One of the last collaborative efforts between Dean James, Anton Young & Freddy Scattz.
Dean wrote the song's music & melody plus it's infamous "verse" lyrics (unfortunately getting away with using the word 'stag' in a pop tune!). Anton finished up the lyrics for the chorus... and Freddy created the synth intro/outro. Recorded in two takes at Dean's house on June 7, 1984, in a session that also saw the boys record Journey's "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' (by ZZ-Top), Cheap Trick's "Ain't That A Shame" & The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes"."" |
