If you missed the First Annual Joshua Tree Didgeridoo Festival, you
missed a very exciting weekend where hundreds of people got together in Joshua Tree,
California, to learn about, listen to and play their favorite instrument, the didgeridoo.
A big thanks to Peter Spoecker, Grahm and Trish
from The Didgeridoo Store, and Mark and Barry
from LA Outback, the sponsors of the festival. They
did an incredible job of putting together this event. Check out their sites for pictures
of the festival, and for the purchase of didgeridoos and related items.
The best thing about didgeridoo events, is the people who participate. You can't find a
group of people anywhere that are more friendly, helpful and fun to be with than a large
group of didgeridoo players. When asked by Phillip
Peris why I was leaving my barrels of Slide
Didges overnight out where anyone could take one, I replied that the type of people
that come to events like this, are good people and I felt confident that the didges would
still be there in the morning. I was not disappointed.
The purpose of this site is to allow those that were unable to attend to hear the
wonderful sounds of the festival, and to enable those who were there to hear it again. I
recorded all the performances, and the Didge Hike on Friday with Grahm Doe, and will post
as much of it as possible. As I get permission from the performers, and the time to work
on them, I will master the recordings and upload them here. As you can see, there is quite
a bit here already. Come back frequently to hear the new additions.
The performers at the show on Saturday night in order of their appearance were Lewis
Burns, Randy Graves with Didginus, Didge Elvis,
Walt Young, Phillip Peris, The Joshua Tree
Didgeridoo Band (including Peter Spoecker, Phillip Peris, Bob
Sweetriver Bellus, Clive Wright, and Brent
Lewis), Allen Smith, Rob Thomas of Inlakesh, and
Charlie McMahon. On Sunday, there was Peter Spoecker, Per Hultquist, Bill Hudson, Phillip
Peris, Charlie McMahon, Jason Strazzabosco, Karl
Kalbaugh and Lewis Burns. My apologies if I missed anyone, please let me know if I left
you out and I will fix it right away. Anyone that is not hyperlinked, send me a URL and I
will add it.
Enjoy the site, and let me know what you think. -- Martin
