This song was inspired by the A16 protests against the IMF/World Bank semi-annual meeting in Washington, D.C. on April 16, 2000Marc and Adam went to the protests a day early (April 15) with the goal of increasing their personal awareness about the role that the IMF and World Bank play in corporate globalization. They were arrested as part of an admittedly pre-planned 'guinea-pig' demonstration conducted by the police to dissuade protestors from taking to the streets on April 16, the scheduled day of mass protesting.A15 addresses issues of globalization and the roles we play as conscious consumers. It also plays on themes of police brutality and disregard for civil rights as inspired by marc and adam's first act of civil disobedience. |
