I use to destroy Billie Holiday songs.
That's how Patient Zero started. Trailing melodies that didn't go
anywhere, half-formed sounds that swam in through a haze of noise,
half-remembered but not placed. Now it's accelerated violence. Beats
that cruise as fast as the drum machines will allow, then suddenly
slowed down to hip-hop pace, the long lost soundtracks to driller
killer, slowed down diseased scratching, shredded military
breakbeats and grinding pulse less bass tones, and off course
destroyed riffs off classic 40's jazz. Digital Hardcore South
African Style. Genuine South African outsider noise. Patient
Zero is influenced by Cormac McCarthy's books, David Cronenberg's
movies, David Lynch's heart, Paul Virilio's aesthetics, Groinchurn,
Alec Empire's interviews, Merzbow, DJ Scud and ten tons of Japanese
noise.
