    SOME RECENT REVIEWS
"Glittering Cities is a top shelf example of independently produced music. It is no wonder that this album has achieved such critical acclaim right across the Internet. From the first to the last notes, all parties involved exude a level of professionalism that many major label performers have lacked in recent years. World Rock at its finest, this album would make a worthy addition to the collection of the most critical World music afficionado."
    BOBBY BENSLEY - JavaMusic A+R
"I bought a copy of Glittering Cities quite some time ago. It's been played and played and played since then. My son is 4 years old and he sings along with several of the songs. Glittering Cities is filled with rich imagery, excellent lyrics, excellent musicianship, wonderful production, and enough musical substance to stand up to repeated listens over and over and over. Glittering Cities is really an album that should not be missed!"
    BUD BENNET - ilikepie
"Susan Raven's debut album, Glittering Cities, is transcendent. Though the spiritual theme of the music may not appeal to everyone's taste, the excellence of production and exquisite melding of the instrumentals and vocals will. Raven's voice is gorgeous, and her original compositions are moving and insightful. All cuts are technically excellent. While some may be less lyrically detailed, as with the somewhat simplistic command of Stack Your Guns, others sail and soar. The title song is a lucid and vibrant example of Raven's total production - ethereal, shimmering, and visionary.
Also outstanding are the haunting and evocative Saturn and the warmly heartfelt I Think of You, a eulogy for two friends. Particularly noteworthy accompaniment comes from Steffy Sharpstring's glissando guitar and Hilaire Penda's bass on Saturn as well as on I Think of You. In all, this album is a positive introduction to a very talented artist whose skill is clearly presented, not simply in her personal performance, but in her ability to choose other musicians and producers as talented as she is, and create a superb total composition with their support."
MURRDAY FISHER - ALL MUSIC GUIDE
"Susan Raven is a singer and songwriter with a distinctive vocal tone and style, that has the ability to change the face of popular music forever. Her voice is so real and full of emotion that I found it hard to get past that aspect of her music. Once I did, I found a passion and truth that I haven't heard in a long time. Susan's music spoke to me in a way that I find hard to describe. I can't remember when I heard music that was this powerful and this well written. Her lyrics have a depth and substance that is rare in today's music, but also has an appeal that many who like mainstream music should enjoy. Susan is an excellent artist and definitely worth every ounce of attention that she receives. It just doesn't get any better than this."

The opening song on the album, this tale of urban angst versus angelic guidance sweeps in on a tide of layered 12 string guitars. The voice leads you through emotions and imagery that tug at far memories in the sub-concious, and lifts you sonically and phonetically into a soul mood of optimism.

Enhanced by the gorgeous west African style bassline of Hilaire Penda (Salif Keita Band), this song calls on us to revere our planet and acknowledge her consciousness. Swinging over the 12 string acoustic guitars and quirky keyboards, the voice sings a tale of how we 'zip' ourselves into different coloured spacesuits/skins each time we incarnate and take on the task in hand.

This is the title track of the album. It is a splendid mixture of sitars, dance rhythms and mantras with a glorious tale of spiritual flight on a rich, melodic top line. Featuring that fine guitarist from Peter Gabriels band, David Rhodes, this track is a journey of seven minutes plus of sumptuous melody and ethereal imagery.

A true anthem for the new millenium. See all the guns stacked one on top of the other in piles as high as Silbury Hill at stations around the Planet... what a glorious sight! Let's melt them down and mold them into bridges over canyons, sculptures in the snow and tools to till the land. It's never too late....

A haunting, turbulent piece that starts with a chant calling the names of seven planets described in Rudolf Steiner's Occult Science as the seven incarnations of the being known as Earth. Written in a minor key the glissando guitar sends you out into far space and Hilaire Penda's bass line drives the spacecraft on a georgeous groove.

Susan's beautifully haunting vocal dances over an ebb and flow of 12-string guitars and Irish whistles. The engine-room of the song features the innovative bass playing of West African Hilaire Penda (Salif Keita Band) weaving around quirky, tin-soldier drums, programmed by engineer/producer Satch Norton.
