Tommy Henriksen
- Tommy's self-titled debut CD has all the elements to appeal to an audience
eagerly seeking a fresh blend of pop and rock with a new lyrical slant and
unique sound. Heavily influenced by world music, he incorporates such unusual
instruments as the sitar, tabla drums, the moon lute, Swedish bagpipe and Irish
pennywhistle to create a multi-layered, multi-cultural sound. MTV called
Tommy Henriksen "sassy-cute," but also made sure to declare that this
is a guy with some skills. It was impossible not to be impressed by the talents
he displayed as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist on his self-titled 1999
Capitol records release. His song "I See The Sun" was featured
in the 1999 Alicia Silverstone/Brendan Fraser flick Blast From The Past.
Sitting in the living room of Gary Gershs home (then president of Capitol
Records), listening to the game plan of how I was going to be the big priority
act of 1999, little did I realize that within a few short months he would be
gone from the helm of Capitol Records. The high point of my life and career soon
became the low point. Rather than dwell in bitterness, my sole focus became my
music. Music had gotten me through all the other low points in my life before,
and it wouldn't let me down again. That's the Readers Digest version of the
story, but like I say, lets not dwell on the past. I'm very excited about the
direction the music has taken on this new CD--it is a natural progression from
my last CD. It was produced and recorded entirely in my home studio during the
last year. I'm choosing to call this CD "Selected Songs For A New
Beginning" because I feel this is a fresh start for me. Get
