John Edmonds sings the blues his way on this full swing chicago style tune.
Combine the full blues sound of England's own "Essex Blues Band" with the down home midwestern jazz/blues sound of "Jasper Mills Band" and the flavor mixture is this rich and fulfilling big band number with blues trimmings.John Cohmer of Jasper Mills joins the songs and adds a blues soloing adventure. These two guys seemlessly thread their guitar playing in the middle of this one in a showing of mutual and kindred spirited play. Behind them are all the ingredients...big band brass, New Orleans piano and the Hammond B3 from Sunday mornings church service and this Jazz Gumbo Soup is ready for good sippin....ENJOY..Y'ALL |

While recording this song there was a bad thunderstorm raging outside the studio. The present vocal track was a reference vocal only so that John could finish the slide solo. He was then coming back and going to redo the vocal last. There was a quick mix down to listen once the slide was played. And then the power went out. It was out for hours and went it came back on the individual slide solo track was corrupted and John faced redoing the slide again. As much as he tried he never was able to get one as solid and funky as this take. So the qwick mix became the track you now are playing or downloading. |

This Rocker introduced to John Cohmer by John Edmunds of UK's great Essex Blues Band.
A roughed vocal and track turned on the floodlights as both John's worked this song. Lyric rewrites and throwing in everything but the litchen sink. The song say's it all by naming off all the great players who stood at the crossroads and played the Chicago streets to Hot Atlanta as well as Rainbow Bridge to the New York Island and beyond to the Isles of Britain.
The great me who left their mark...played it loud and sang it proud. The Blues..... |

This John Edmonds(Essex Blues Band from the UK) rocker kicks butt. John starts off with a very familiar hook riff. Then rocks a soloing then hands off this blues rock guitar relay to John Cohmer (Jasper Mills) who slides that pill bottle all over tarnation and back...the old fellers (both past the century mark) show they have some energy and knock this one out of the ballpark. This Latin Blues instrumental was born of a collaborative exchange between John Edmonds and John Cohmer. It needs to be said "It didn't start out anything like this". but once all tracks were submitted and laid out the whole song changed and fell into it's own place. The marriage of old style bottleneck blues guitar playing with a British blues rock guitar was fantastic. And following a Latin beat makes for something so smooth and different. |

A London small ally way linked to the last murder Jack the Ripper was said to Have commited. The young woman was seen speaking to a dark stranger At the entrance to "St James's Passage". This song written and arranged by our British guitar friend,John Edmonds begins with an Edgar Allen Poe church organ and then John Cohmer (Jasper Mills) enters after Edmonds lead off guitar with a remarkable bottleneck slide eerie and almost deathly cry and moaning. So blues and rock this portion. But thats just the start because Mr Edmonds himself joins the sacrifical soloing from the Catacombs of his soul. This one has Movie Soundtrack possiblities. We welcome that opportunity.

And all acoustic essemble. Filippo Bertacche's drums lend a back drop for some guitar renderings in harmony and NEW STRINGS ADDED IN BACKGROUND...verses are the focal point and the dobro slide lends the sighs as the harp playing lays down the cries gently....This one is a collaboration of Italy, US with Filippo sending the drums track to John on Ohio. A net collaboration you could swear this was done live with all these boys next to each other on stage...enjoy... |
