My Eternal Thief (aka Eternia) | mp3.com/myeternalthief |
|
Please read this article to find out exactly why Eternia is moving it's focus away from the withering mp3.com to AmpCast. I have never deigned to make a living out of music alone, because this would have required me to deal with the sort of stupid small minded people represented by Vivendi Universal. I have purposely stayed away from major record companies for this very reason. I have used other sources for income, and thus I have been allowed to develop my own musical style on my own terms - rather than concentrating on the need to try and make money - other artists are not so fortunate in this respect. Since joining mp3.com over a year ago, they have progressively "changed the rules". With the take over by Vivendi Universal, they have taken on the full stupidity of a major record label. Interestingly, Vivendi Universal were one of the big 5 who took mp3.com to court and did so much damage to the company in the first place. I would ask all Eternia fans to boycott Vivendi Universal products whenever possible. Other artists and promoters are making the same request. Any slight dent we can make in the profits of these small minded greedy mongerels will be a victory. Vivendi Universal's website purports that they are "a consumer-focused, performance-driven, values-based global media and communications company". I would conjecture that they are a "profit-driven, prime example of corporate greed with a focus on maintaining a stranglehold on what the general public gets to listen to". Those of you who know me know that I never mix music with politics - this is the first time I have ever taken such a stance in relation to my music. For myself, I do not care about the loss of earnings from mp3.com - it was a bonus whilst it lasted - it is for the artists who rely on mp3.com to help them pay their rent that I am doing this. For the moment, a few songs will stay on mp3.com as acknowledgement to those who have added Eternia songs to their stations. However, I have removed all DAMs CDs, most of the songs and all download options. If you want to download Eternia songs, please go to AmpCast.
In the meantime...please show the artists you care by venting your spleen at Vivendi Universal. Regards
