	i was living in the black hills of south dakota and i was reading the overcoat by gogol. usually the protagonist in his novels, i initially thought the clerks were sad, sorrowful figures. however, after being in belle fourche for awhile, i began to identify with them. i soon realized that their difficulties were mine and came to accept them as my literary brothers. this song is about feeling like a clerk.
