Welcome to the new and improved King Platypus web page. We have posted eight songs which we will release on our CD "Transcendental Vaudeville," due out in February 2001.
Our featured song this month is "Night of the Living Lawn Ornaments," which recently made it up to 191 on the national mp3 charts in the Americana category.
King Platypus consists of Jim Harris, a former back up bassist for Chubby Checker, and Jake Michael who sounds alot like James Taylor. Joining us for some of these tracks is Daoud Shaw on drums, who played with Van Morrison.
Our music falls somewhere between John Prine, Crash Test Dummies and Bare Naked Ladies. Some of our tunes are pure folk, while others are garage band rock and roll.
To see us perform live at your local bookstore or coffeehouse, check out our schedule which is listed under "King Platypus" at www.jimbobsjournal.com.
You can also hear Jake's solo CD at www.mp3.com/JakeMichael
Thanks for stopping by and let us know what you think..
