This tune has a very dynamic structure, alternating between a broken swing feel in 4/4, 3/4, and a half-time funk groove. The arrangement is heavy on woodwind doubles, utilizing 2 sopranos, 2 altos, 2 tenors, 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, and bass clarinet within the course of the piece. Featured soloists include Bill Swann, piano, Vance Thompson, trumpet, and Bill Scarlett, soprano saxophone. |
