Mike Squared Productions consists of award-winning playwright Mike Allegra and composer Mike Shapiro, who teamed up in 1992 with the goal of producing works not quite as horrifically bad as what the contemporary musical theater community has to offer.
Their first musical collaboration, Macho Manly Men was workshopped in late 1999 and is currently undergoing a final draft. As the title hopefully suggests, Macho Manly Men is a comedy. The story concerns a luckless complaint department laborer, who, finding his life collapsing on multiple fronts, seeks a personality makeover at an athletics resort - only to find himself competing head-to-head against the worst bully from his childhood.
