HAPPY NEW YEAR from World Jive
I was skimming through some Google links recently and found this article on World Jive from our Vancouver Du Maurier International Jazz Festival performance in the early summer of 1999:

World Jive alumni form new jazz quartet
The latest on World Jive is pretty much the same as the last update. We are in a holding pattern and hopeful that 2003 may yield at least one performance at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. It is very likely that 2003 will be a year to begin some World Jive performances again. Anything that comes up in this regard will be posted right here so keep an eye out for developments in the next few months.
In the meantime, Mike Devison, drummer extraordinaire from World Jive has produced a number of fascinating new jazz pieces for jazz quartet. Mike has written his new pieces for soprano sax, piano/keys, bass, and drums. For instrumentalists, he has called upon World Jive alumni to help realize these dazzling jazz works. The Mike Devison quartet will featureGraig
Robertson on soprano and tenor sax, Paul Blaney on standup bass, and Rob Best on piano/keys. Rehearsals are underway with performance very much in mind. Updates on the new quartet will be posted here as t hey become available. Mike Devison can be reached directly at:

(June 3/02) ***WORLD JIVE LIVE ON HOLD UNTIL 2003!***
Just a quick update everyone to thankyou for tuning in to the sounds of World Jive on MP3. Some have been asking recently of upcoming concerts but alas this year has been very difficult again financially, which makes
floating a boat like World Jive an difficult feat costwise. I believe next summer festival season may indeed be a possibility for a return to live performances along with new songs/pieces. In the meantime, I haven't given up on getting some photos uploaded at least and perhaps some more mp3 files of live World Jive and a few that are hanging around. In the meantime everybody keep on keeping up in the face of all the downs going on these days. Peace all...
