Touching lives is an important thing to Chris Soto, Mike Soto, Ricky Tes and Matt Serochi: the members of Pure Defiance. They're all about commitment to their music and the message that they are trying to get across. When you may hear the name Pure Defiance, you might think of a rebellious, defiant person. But if you ask any of the members of the band, they'll tell you that they are defiant against the things of this world because they know although they are in this world, they are not a part of it.

Pure Defiance was formed in April of 1995. They had their start in a small Bay Area town of Union City. In their first year together, they recorded their first demo EP, Too Deep, featuring 6 original songs written in the first few months of the band's start. Their first couple of shows were in community centers and the now defunct Berkeley Square, which also hosted bands like Testament, Machine Head, Green Day and countless others. The band even had the privilege of playing at their own high school their senior year and landing a two page layout in the school yearbook.

The following year after the band's increasing success and rising popularity, everything suddenly came to a halt...
