A sort of jazzy little romp with some quiet moments and some that jump. My favorite writers were Donald Fagan and Walter Becker so I'm sure there's one or two chords I took from them and that's probably where the similarity ends. Jeff's lyrics are interesting and he develops them over a long period of time so they sound right and say something. What they say is your call!! Rick |

This one is not easy to categorize as far as musical genre. You may not agree with that but that's your perogative. This one has a sort of country feel evidently because a friend says it reminds him of a good old Johnny Cash song. At first I was a little irritated with that evaluation, but then realized that it was a real compliment. Now I hear a little Willie and Waylon myself when I listen to it - go figure, the power of suggestion is a powerful suggestion! Country is not my style, but I come from Oklahoma so it's in there by birth I suppose. I didn't set out to write any specific type of song really I was just composing a progression on my new Taylor 6 string, so impressive an instrument! - and then decided this one needed life and breath and maybe even legs like my own little salesman. Read on to find out who did what on this one because it was an interesting process whereby I wrote the lyrics and sang them originally, but Jeff had a stronger voice and took over the lead which left me to do some quick harmonys that were vibrating in my head. These things just go down on tape, literally at first, then take on a life of their own - either in your car sterio or in your mind, or should I say my mind. There are allusions to dreams of flying, which I have sometimes, and also the affirmation that no matter what you do, you will experience the results of it, either here or after, be it long or short, good or bad, dirt or gold. Yours truly,Rick |
