"Both visually enchanting and harmonically blessed..." -- BAM magazine
BIONICBLIMP is blasting off! . . .with four talented POP-MUZIK heroes that have made themselves known playing to packed, buzzing audiences all over Southern California.
Often described as a blend of The Carpenters, Sparks and The B-52's, BIONICBLIMP has become an LA WEEKLY top pop pick - opening for The Austin Powers soundtrack cult-heroes, "The Wondermints", gaining recognition in the Orange County Register, spotlighting The Paul Williams Tribute show, participating on the Kroft Superstars tribute album and re-introducing Nu-Wave legends "Bow-Wow-Wow", "Berlin" and "Howard Jones". BIONICBLIMP knocked 'em dead at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles during the Cindy Sherman Retrospective Opening Gala, dazzling the more-than 4,000 invited celebrity and civilian guests. They also achieved top billing at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go for last year's Poptopia Festival, an event famous for showcasing up and coming talent in Southern California's new POP-MUZIK scene.
With a distinguished lineage going back to lead vocalist Jason Savall's involvement in the legendary 60's style garage-punk band, The Fuzztones, and drummer Gene Trautmann's long-term affiliation with The Miracle Workers, BIONICBLIMP has transformed vintage rock-n-roll into new POP-MUZIK. BIONICBLIMP promises to fill up your senses and leave you warm, happy and buzzing with that just-ate-candy feeling...
Last year, BIONICBLIMP was invited to contribute to the Vibrophonic Records "Sid & Marty: A Tribute to the Krofft Superstars". This past September, BIONICBLIMP released their premiere 7" single "1999/here we go again" as an import on Sheep Records, Switzerland. BIONICBLIMP has just released their debut album "Exploring Automatic Rhythms" (TGTBT Music), available now!
