Borne in Motown, U.S.A., Sandy is a published author and New York-based modern artist. Sandy has been a singer and songwriter all her life, from her beginnings playing folk clubs in Chicago, to recording in Austin, Texas where she ran a musician's rehearsal studio... and now in New York where she lives. Her early influences in rock, gospel, soul and rhythm and blues are reflected in her singing style and songwriting.
"Elvis Presley was my biggest influence in my youth," she states, "He was so talented and filled with soul-purpose... and firmly rooted in American music through gospel, rhythm and blues, which has inspired almost all genres of music."
As a youth, Sandy started hanging around folk clubs in Chicago, such as The Earl of Old Town where she one night met John Prine, a regular folkie, and other places like Somebody Else's Troubles. Sandy would play her guitar and sing into the wee hours. Soon she started writing and performing her own original songs and has continued to this day.
Sandy's songs are filled with universal lyrics that are skillfully entwined with tuneful melodies. She emphasizes the messages in her songs are vital in that they must send out a feeling of universal sympathies felt by all humanity.
"I really believe artists are channels for a higher and much purer force which we have no choice but to bring out of ourselves. It took me experiencing a lot of hardships and disappointments before I was able to begin to live truer to myself. I write music because I love to challenge myself and I've LIVED each and every word of my songs."
Currently she lives in New York where she is recording and marketing her music on the Internet.
