Convoy was created in response to a request from Maura Baiocchi, the director of the Brazilian Modern Dance Company Transcultura. After she heard several records by NYC acid bubblegum group Stratotanker, she asked the drummer, Artanker, to create music for her epic dance work, "Materia". This site contains recordings of works recorded by the Convoy for Materia. Convoy is made up of Kid Joe Fiorentino, Artanker, and Chris Seeds,
each members from the New York rock group Stratotanker; John Warren, the hand drummer whiz kid from the midwest, Jake Oaz on conversational
sax, and Art Lavis on electric guitar.
Materia was first performed in Sao Paolo, Brazil in July, 2001. Convoy will be performing at the Brazil 2003 Festival in Rio.
