These songs come out of several artist residencies in Delaware and Connecticut. In most cases, both words and music were composed by the students themselves. The Wilmington, DE residencies in special ed classes were sponsored by Word Dance Magazine and funded by VSA Arts Delaware and MBNA. The CT residencies in and around Hartford were sponsored by the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) and the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
Special thanks to the teachers, the principals, and program directors, Stuart Ungar of Word Dance and Sally Oxman at CREC.
