The ledgend of the Peraltas mines are closely tied to a Dutch miner named Jacob Waltz. The mine is believed to be somewhere near Apache Junction, Arizona. One fable associated with the mine is that Jacob Waltz was being chased by Mescalero Indians and climbed in a tree to hide. He fell out of the tree when a limb broke and landed on the ground with the limb in his hand. There was gold dust gleaming in the wood grain. The tree was growing over the mouth of a cave and Jacob climed into the cave to hide. |

The book, Blind Man's Bluff, describes a song by Tommy Cox about Whitey Mac. What he didn't say is there are a lot more good songs on that CD. This is one of them. |
