The Stubborn
All-Stars are undeniably the original masters of American traditional roots
ska. First assembled by King Django
in 1994 to record the now-legendary "Old's Cool" EP for his Stubborn
Records label, the group featured players carefully culled from the then-thriving
NYC ska scene including members of Skinnerbox,
The Slackers, The Insteps and Agent 99. The All-Stars released three albums
and a greatest hits collection issued in the UK, offering up a diversity of
the finest in US roots ska, rock-steady, reggae, dub, and early dancehall styles.
Mainly a studio project, the band has toured the eastern half of the United
States and much of Europe. Many of the core members have also been involved
with Version City Rockers.

Nobody touches the true ska beat like the Stubborn All-Stars. This one is a didactic ditty done in the original Prince Buster style. It gets no more rootical than this. Featuring the amazing trumpet of SLEDGE. |
