Here's a fun thing to do: disect a bands musical journey through time and try to imagine where they've been, where they are now and where the hell they are going. Case in point- Sonic Ruin. I don't know really where their starting point was (and don't say Baton Rouge, LA or I'll kick your lilly ass) but I do know that Sonic Ruin has embarked on a musical journey that has charted them all over the dance map. But somewhere along the way, somebody pissed them off. Earlier tracks by this band are much happier and 'poppier'. Granted they don't spend much time in one area, a little trance here, techno there and throw in a few middle eastern dashes and even a jazzy mix of one track, and you have the workings of a band travelling an electronic path of epic porportions. Manifesto of Resistance is hard, aggressive and smacks you right in the center of your face. Good luck recovering from this one. If you dare venture out on to the dancefloor to this one, slap on a pair of shin guards and keep your shoulders and elbows locked with fists clenched, because your going to come back bloody. - Joe Graham of

When Jackson, of Milo's Machine, joined Sonic Ruin, he brought with him a nugget of audio reality - what the once bland, and repetitive "Jackhammer" could sound like when it's been handled properly. This is the result. PREPARE FOR THE FORCEFUL COERCION OF KNOWLEDGE INTO YOUR RESISTING CRANIUM! |
