A few years back two art students met at an outdoor music festival in New England. They were both slotted to play that night and, being equally enthused about each other's music, they began to correspond between Northampton, MA and New York City. Two years later they were married and formed the band Vesper.

Comprised of Ben and Vesper Stamper and Daniel Brindley, this modern folk duo is distinguished by striking and artful songwriting and the ability to engage their audiences with their melodies, lyrics and humor. "When you consider the timeless greats like Odetta or Carole King, they aren't remembered for their clever marketing campaigns", says Vesper. "They were devoted to expressing, with power, their particular American and earthly experiences. Like them, we plunge our roots straight and firm into history...something beautiful comes to bear when your roots run deep."

Every element in Vesper's music carves out a space for her voice, which is the focal point of their sound. The supporting power of Ben's electric guitar compliments Vesper's acoustic with phrasings and textures akin to Daniel Lanois and Dick Dale. Daniel Brindley, their multi-talented sidekick completes the picture with his innovative accordion, piano and djembe work.

All three members of Vesper reside in Montclair, NJ and are steadily performing in New York City and the surrounding areas. They have released two CDs: "Nova" (1999) and "I'll Be True" (2000).
