	SIRIUS: A vast, slow hymn to God the creator of the universe. The eighth-note rhythm is unchanging, pulsing slowly like the rhythm of nature. Sirius is the brightest star in the heavens, and, to me, very much a beacon to the Lord of all creation.

	POLARIS, the North Star, is at once remote and welcoming. I wrote music in this piece which is very nostalgic, and perhaps more "accessible" than some of the others. Although not overtly religious in nature, its form and harmonic language suggest traditional tonality, which is, to me, a kind of spirituality all by itself.
