Ballistic Resistance vocalist, songwriter and head conspirator The Monk of Funk considers his band's music "the vehicle in which we carry our message." Their message -- one of an apocalyptic future brought on by corrupt government, inter-national business conglomerates and the devil himself -- is frightening enough alone. But when you add the thrashing guitar riffs, incessant drum beats and hallucinogenic shouting of the lyrics, it all adds up to be one fierce, and eerily enlightening, experience. They are also quite possibly the most self-indulgent, yet horrifically honest, band since Rage Against The Machine. "A full-fledged, self-propagating, indigenous, underground movement!"

BR'S thick, bludgeoning funkcore is an eclectic mix - slappy funk bass, alternately pummeling and Primus-like guitars, dancable rhythm loops, and just about every heavy vocal style imaginable all find their way into the violent fray. Their sound defies the usual rip-hop comparisons by incorporating these disparate elements. The Monk raps, grinds and croons and jells most audibly on 'Das Capital', 'Gestapo', and the schizoid 'Selling Your Soul Away'. While most heavy, jagged outfits forsake the funk completely in favor of a heavy groove, it's BR'S use of the real stuff that sets them so far apart from the pack. I don't care how many tracks they had to work with, it's still hard to believe that two people make a sound this thick. An intriguing listen!

Resistance is futile. Ballistic Resistance is comprised of The Monk on vocals and The Deacon on guitars, bass, vocals, and drum programming. The duo blends hard-core metal with both funk and rap to create a militant, jarring sound. The group's self-titled debut on Propetic Records finds the band angry and loud. On tracks Militant Mind and Das Capital , the group espouses jaded, infuriated lyrics over monstrous riffs and a thrusting backbeat. Ballistic Resistance certainly has more on its mind than celebrity; this is an outfit looking for world domination. They are not afraid to embattle themselves to the most global of causes. The Monk of Funk and Deacon of Freakin' simply don't let up from their assault on Ballistic Resistance!
