To keep this page a little smaller, in addition to this page I've made three others:
"PulsePlay", a page that contains much of my ambient, pop, jazz, and ethnic-influenced work.
"My Asia", where I've collected my pieces that mix Eastern and Western musical languages.
"The Composer Plays", a virtual concert of both possible and impossible music for solo piano.
Also, there are two MP3 "stations" that I run, filled with wonderful music and sound from other artists:
"Music Now: Worldwide"; and
"A Sense of Place".
Warning for Dial-up modem users: MP3.com generates the lo-fi files automatically, and have been using a lower fidelity than I find acceptable. I'm sorry you might suffer through poorer quality than I'd like, and ask that if at all possible you download the full "hi-fi" file of any work that intrigues you. You'll be rewarded for your effort.
And so...

(2001) For very large orchestra. In memory of the great composer Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001). His music and ideas have been with me for as long as I wanted to be a composer. I am hearing that the cortège that accompanies him to his new home does not do so quietly. "Kleos" is Homer's greek; it means "glory; often implying fame and immortality (in the memory of others), achieved as a result of one's time (acts of excellence meriting honor)." It was important to me that I sketch the whole of this work on the day of his death; for all of the talk of mathematic and stochastic processes, Xenakis' music even more shows an even stronger and willful, almost wild, intuition. The rule is always MAN. | MP3.com CD: Imaginary Orchestras - buy it!

(1998) For flute, clarinet, and piano 4-hands. The title means "A question about fire"; this is the delirious companion to the more severe "El canto entre piedras" found also on this page. Both pieces were composed at the suggestion of the Spanish conductor José Luis Temes. | MP3.com CD: Play - buy it!

(2001) A study in motion; something seemingly almost static, yet inexorably moving, pressing. | MP3.com CD: Imaginary Orchestras - buy it!
