Story Behind the Song
To Ancient Egyptians, the Duat is The Other Side -- where the Sun goes at night, where the gods live, where we go in dreams. It is where fertility comes from, rising up each year to flood the valley of the Nile, regenerating the soil for the food for next year's feasts.
A goal of the 3,500 year old Book Of Going Forth By Day (a precious, precious book -- Chronicle Books; ISBN: 0811807673) was to equip the soul with the ability to navigate, at will, between The Other Side and our familiar sun-lit world.
In a similar spirit, we are developing tools for becoming adept, as a people, at freely traversing the gateways between our waking world and the Duat (the collective unconscious?). The foundation of this particular crop of tools is the trance technology that has evolved through the years in the Reggae grooves of the people of Jamaica.
The bass and groove of this song were influenced by a MIDI file by M.E. Dread (of The Netherlands) which can be found at http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/costello/6/medread3.mid, among many good Reggae MIDI files presented at The Dubroom (http://dit.is/the_dubroom/).
We give thanks and praise.
Lyrics
Gates Of The Duat
My heart is mine in the House of Hearts
The doors of the sky are opened for me
I will go in and out
I will go here and there
At all the gates of the Duat
At all the gates of the Duat
(Background part:
Photon domination
Supersonic turbulation
Cloud stability
Cloud integrity
All the gates of the Duat
All the gates of the Duat)
Give me bread from the House
Give me bread from the House
From the House of Cool Water
From the House of Cool Water
My heart is mine in the House of Hearts
The doors of the sky are opened for me
I will go in and out
I will go here and there
At all the gates of the Duat
At all the gates of the Duat
