	Story Behind the Song I wrote this song very quickly - in one half hour sitting in October 1999. It was inspired by an email I received from an old lover years after the fact. It took me back to the time we were together and all the plans we had made but never materialised. "What might have been." This piano and vocal version was recorded at Tiger Recording in April/May 2000. Lyrics Whatever happened to the people that we were So long ago It hadn't crossed my mind Whatever happened to the promise that we made The chance has gone And we both know It's never been the same And now you tell me that you're still in love with me What am I supposed to say? Now we're standing at the other end of time We lost our way But somehow we survived You've been busy loving yours and I with mine It doesn't change The way it felt The way it touched our lives And now you tell me that you're still in love with me What am I supposed to say?
