Giant hook, big harmonies, layered guitars and driving groove. "Go ahead and leave, I'm over you anyway" lyrics. One of our best and most accessable tunes. |
Credits: Rich Gantner--bass,harmony vocals,engineering Dan Palladino--lead vocal,guitars,drums |
Story Behind the Song
This song was actually written specifically for a "Taxi" listing. (Yeah, them.) The chord changes came together in an hour or so. The first draft of the verse lyrics only took about a day or two. Then Rich came up with the hook. It took him about ten minutes (bastard!). All the guitars and vocals took weeks. This is the second version of this tune. On the first one, I had a cold when I did the vocal. I couldn't deal with how it turned out, so I did it over again. We've gotten a lot of positive feedback on this one, so we try to pitch it whenever we can.
Lyrics
Walk On
by Dan Palladino and Rich Gantner
Fine with me if you want to leave today
I've got other cards to play
An ace in each sleeve and one in my shoe
So tell me what would you have me do?
Should I run and hide or maybe lay down and die
I still look myself in the eye
And I see the reflection of you
As you walk out of my life on cue
So walk on, walk on, walk away
I'll let you write the end
You won't hear me beg you to stay
So say so long my friend
Yesterday I sold our favorite things
To a man who claimed to dine with kings
Even the strings on my shoes went in his cart
But he wouldn't take your empty heart
So I went inside and I uncovered your lies
And I laid on my bed satisfied
And my last reflection of you
Is the moment that you said we're through
So walk on, walk on, walk away
I'll let you write the end
You won't hear me beg you to stay
So say so long my friend
(repeat chorus)
Walk on...So long...
Walk on, walk on, walk away
I'll let you write the end
You won't hear me beg you to stay
So say so long my friend
(repeat chorus)
