Story Behind the Song
I decided that it would be nice to try an acoustic guitar version of this song. This is in B-flat. I played one track of my Lowden in G, capo 3; another track of my Lowden in C, tuned down a full step; a track of my Yamaha high-string guitar in G, capo 3; and Heather played the midi French horns in the last verse. I wrote the lyrics to the last verse while picturing myself at peace in a garden, knowing that such a deep peace could only be possible for me in the presence of the Trinity. It also contains a reminder to myself to live in the present in peace and to have confidence in God's ability to take care of the future.
Lyrics
Morning has broken like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, Praise for the morning,
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word.
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dew fall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning,
Born of the One Light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, Praise every morning,
God's recreation of the new day.
Father around me, Son right beside me,
Spirit within me, guiding my way
Live in this moment, fear not the future,
be still and know that, God's already there.
