Story Behind the Song
There are times when darkness seems to close in. Relationships fall apart, pressures in school and work seem too great to bear, friends are nowhere to be found. Left alone, blinded by present reality, a person cannot see anything to look forward to. I am sympathetic to this state of mind, I've been there more than once. But I encourage you to hold on a little longer. There is hope and joy ahead; the future is not far away! Jeremiah 29:11
Lyrics
So I am here, so I am me
I am not you, although I could be
I found a way that you overlooked
I called on his name and that's all it took
To know Life, to know Love
To know I'll never have to be alone again
To know God is here with me
I know it's something that you just can't comprehend
To be free and unafraid
Living out loud the way that it was supposed to be
I wish you were here
I looked in your eyes and saw the despair
I knew you'd decided not to go on
I laid down at your side, slept fitfully there
And when I awoke I found you were gone
Pressing onward, the sun on my face
Alone but hopeful, I finished the climb, and there was the city!
Turns out you were wrong, we were so close
Six hours from dawn, you gave up the fight, you didn't know
This is Life, this is Love
and I can see we were designed to feel this way
Living like children of
a loving God who fills our lives with Joy and Peace
Feeling free and unafraid
Living out loud the way that it was supposed to be
I wish you were here
