	Story Behind the Song When Sun wrote the lyrics for "Spin Girl Spin" he was completely sober (actually sort of anti-drug) and it was about someone else. It was the 5th song for 100th Monkey's demo and partner Bob Victor suggested it seemed to be too specifically about one person so when Sun was working on the many incarnations of the bridge he decided to incorporate imagery conjured up by a book he'd recently read called "Fallen Angels". It was a little paperback he'd found in a used book store all about a lot of starlets who'd begun their ascent to the heights of stardom and were thwarted by things like alcohol, drugs, aging or among other things, just plain bad luck. Everyone from Marilyn and Jayne to Pier Angeli and Jean Seberg (and even more obscure angels). The idea for the overlapping bridges was Sun's. Bob wasn't sure which of the two final ones he liked best so Sun asked him to just run the tape with one they'd recorded already and sang the other one on top of itthere was no longer a need to choose. Yeah, when Sun first wrote "Spin Girl Spin" he was pointing his finger. A few years later he was still pointing his fingerbut he was also pointing it in the mirror. Sun doesn't encourage the use of recreational drugs yet one should noteit is just that use that brought him here to this point. Also, there are plenty of ways to Spin legally! He does encourage being thoughtfulabout everything including the use of drugs. He also encourages being carefulif you decide to indulge, take care! He says, "You can think you're being thoughtful when you're in the Spin but take care, the Spin has a tremendous centrifugal force. It will take its toll on more than your pretty dresses."
