Story Behind the Song
LOVE SAFARI
Words and music by Vincent Truman-Mulvihill

As anyone who has attempted to pen a song knows, there is no surefire method to writing. Actually, for several groups, there IS, but they are not really interesting to listen to for longer than thirty seconds.
'Love Safari' came about when I was watching some dreadful Elvis Presley movie - the one with Mary Tyler Moore - and the title just appeared in my head as a likely movie title. I did a bit of research behind it, and found that such a movie did not exist, and quickly sought out some old 50s-style piano grooves and nailed the song in about three hours.
The noises of my cat fetching (yes, my cat fetches) were added at a later date. Or earlier. It doesn't really matter. Nevertheless, it seems to fit in the romance/wild life theme of the song.

Lyrics
I went on the love safari
To see if anyone was game
I ensnared a lovely tigress
When I got her home she told me
How to clean and how to dress
And if I knew it would have been that way
I would've stayed home.
I went on the love safari
To see if anyone could be tame
I saw a cheetah whose eyes make me weak
But she cheatah'd on me twice
Within the first week
And I knew it would have been that way
I would've stayed home.
There she is boys!
Out there on the plain!
Take cover - and ask her her name!
Stay near the camp, boys!
Don't wander far!
Keep your eye on your "gun" and your credit card!
I went on the love safari
Even though the last one was lame
I saw a puma with an incredible bod
As things turned out
She said she discovered God
Now she only wants to save my soul
I'd rather save her the time.
Love safari.
