Story Behind the Song
My wife was going through her jewelry box one day, and my daughter kept asking her mom can I have this or that? My wife told her , some day you'll get it. I kept thinking about that, and what a sad day that would be. The song just came to me, took like maybe not evan an hour to write.
Lyrics
Since she could remember, she's always known the tune/Remembers quite days, sneaking in to her mothers room/She could'nt wait till the day, she could wear those things, always amazed with those pins, necklaces and rings/That was years ago, her mothers gone and she has grown/And what was once her mothers she now owns/And that tune still sounds as fresh, and sweet as ever/Yet she'll always wish, they'd had more time together
Chorus
Now the wood is all faided, the mirror has a crack/Her memories are aged, but she cant help looking back/And she still has'nt found, the key for that lock/But the tune still sounds good, on that old jewelry box.
3
Sweet childhood memories, well up in her eyes/She breaks down as always and starts to cry/Then a little girlsays mama, are you alright/She turns to her daughter, and she hugs her so tight.
