Story Behind the Song
The main theme of the song was written long long ago in my fathers basement when I first discovered the tuning it is in. I eventually embellished it to nearly what it is now and recorded an instrumental version to kick off the album. I named it the lonely overture before the lyrics were written, and when we got an opening slot for Eric Eggleston (look him up he's awesome), I wanted to do some new material so i took most of the lyrics from a passage I wrote for a writing class and reconciled them with the concept of the lonely overture to create what is now definitely our best song.
Lyrics
To send loudness into the day, and reap posteritys fray
Life can run away with all the nows youll ever have
So remains the day, the lonely overture
loves float away
smiles pop with a twilight stab,
the demise of time and creations of consolation
bright with dust of speculation
the eye of times storm
abstrusion abound
solitude surrounds
A time tickled drop of goodness and gladness
A forward sight hangs then in lights of strife
So remains the day, the lonely overture
To send derision, to those circling glories of together tomorrows,
the beaming spiral of a shared strifes quell,
that steepled box, sequestered and scorched,
aching to its veiled fail.
ashes inside the loud,
So remains the day, the lonely overture
