Story Behind the Song
'Spring' was recorded at the beginning of 1995 at Alchemea Studios, London. It's all my own work, I composed and performed it and mixed it down in the space of two overnight sessions. It was inspired by the early morning stroll to the tube station through the park - it was late February and I was struck one morning by the incredible freshness, vitality and optimism that comes with the start of spring and I tried to create a piece of music that captured that feeling. Now, sampling birdsong was corny even by the standards of the mid-nineties, today it is probably punishable by death, but I think it works really well. The track has been lying around ever since un-listened to by anyone except friends or family. I thought I'd put it up on mp3.com to see what others thought. If it's received favourably it might motivate me to get some recording gear together and compose an album, which would probably be quite different to what we have here. Thing is, my musical tastes are so eclectic that I tend to compose in all sorts of styles. Could be interesting!
