Story Behind the Song
I had a weird dream. A friend told me to write it down. I did.
Lyrics
First thing I remember, I walk into a room
It's a party I suppose, but I didn't want to go.
There, see, there's some peolple I know
I go to say hello but they act like they don't see
Angel comes over to explain what's going down
her kisses feel strange I don't know why she's kissing me
Angel says it's not them, they can't hear me
And that the catcher'd come catch me but he don't know where I am.
The only ones with any style, I can see right through
And what I see of Angel makes me hope I'm here a while.
The children in a circle singing Delius tunes
With their candles and their drums, it's sad they don't know what they do.
Can't keep away, I go stand by them and smile
Maybe I have to do it, maybe I just want to know
A boy picks up a red toy phone presses number 9
I answer, he hangs it up like he didn't hear a sound.

There's a goth ball by the bookshelf, I fill it up with vibe
I toss it to a man and he catches it and looks
He says who threw that here, he looks around my side
I can see it in his face he knows the answer's just too weird.
The shadows shake their heads at me like go on boy go
Can't help but wonder what they know that I don't know
It's poetic I suppose, not like pain rhymes with rain,
but the way not much is different than it was a day ago.
The goth ball bounces to a pretty little blonde
She picks it up and drops it - confused and looks around.
Doesn't say a word, doesn't talk at all
It's like she's seen a ghost who's prettier than her.
Screams, screams, a hundred bad dreams
I don't think we're so bad, I guess I don't know what it means.
