"O'Carolan's Draught" | genre: Celtic | |

This song grew out of the courtly Irish harp tradition, the music of the Catholic aristocracy. It possibly reflects the composers reputation as a whiskey drinker. |

Story Behind the Song
Turlogh O'Carolan (1670-1738) occupies a uniqe
place in Irish music - a professional composer
and musician whose works have become accepted
into the repertoire of traditional folk
musicians. In it's stately manner it has much
more in common with the Italian baroque music
of its day than with the dance music tradition
of jigs and reels.
