Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song while listening to Robert Johnson and watching my brother build a fence. It was recorded with some of the best engineers and musicians in Pittsburgh. James Dougherty is featured on slide guitar.
Lyrics
Dark was the night, lonely was the train
Land of California, just to forget her name
Sweet home Chicago, I don't care where i'll be
Buy a new suit of clothes get some dignity
Joseph was a carpenter, his son became a king
Inside my soul, I believe i ca do anything
Cold was the winter, guess i'll be on my way
Got a new suit of clothes, and my takehome pay
Ladies up in Memphis, heard they treat a man right.
And those soul bands down on Beale street
Keep ya rockin all night
Elvis was a poor boy, grew up to be a king
Inside my soul, I believe I can do anything
