Story Behind the Song
I wanted to write a song about an actual hunting trip and it evolved into a relationship song.
Lyrics
Gonna go hunting through the timber through the brush
We'll look for clues then shoot what moves it don't matter much
We're gonna go hunting, better get used to the kill
You find the tracks I'll set the traps our souls could use a meal
Gonna go Hunting
We don't need a gun although to shoot me would be fun
But a gun shot don't erase all the reasons we lost faith
We're gonna talk low, gonna listen, gonna go, gonna go
Hunting
It might be ten feet tall
I'll trust you you trust me too we'll hunt till it's on our wall
Gonna go hunting, gonna see what we can bag
You stalk the truth I'll set the noose it don't have to be a blood bath
We don't need a gun although to shoot you would be fun
But a gun don't shoot the why's when we don't see eye to eye
We're gonna talk low, gonna listen, gonna go, gonna go
Hunting
Going Hunting, for a trophy of trust
It's elusive and quite reclusive but nothing hides from us
Gonna go hunting, Gonna find what we're made of
We'll tan the hide, eat what's inside till nothing's left but love
Gonna go hunting, hunting, hunting
