Story Behind the Song
Most of the music for this one is Jeff's. He brought it over and just floored me with it. All I came up with musically was the bridge and the arrangement of the electric guitar. We recorded it live in one long take after a couple of bad starts. Just an awesome acoustic guitar hook.I knew immediately when I heard Jeff play his original version of the tune what I wanted melodically and lyrically for subject matter. I wrote the lyrics one day at my job pretty much all at once in what amounts to minutes. The great thing about the words to this song is that, even though my real intention lyrically was on a large societal level, they can be taken on a small personal level as in a relationship. I'd like people to see the meaning as their relationship with the world around them, though
Lyrics
I follow you, through the door Into a world wrapped up in what it lusts for Will you believe, in me now We have to find love's place in this world somehow Conscious of the world we're given to hold I'm waiting for the love to take hold, of you, for me, do you believe, I'll follow you, to the end If you will only follow through for me when There words speak so, high of hate And love is just a word that they desecrate Unconscious of the world they're given to hold, They're waiting for the love to let go of you, for me, do you believe
