Story Behind the Song
A man, sitting alone one evening, is playing solitaire. When he realizes that each turn of a card plays out what is happening in his life with his significant other. The game of cards is actually what game his woman is playing with her lover.
Lyrics
SOLITAIRE
Copyright 1999 J.A. Willoughby
Your Queen stole your heart away
The King, plays alone
Her Jack is waiting patiently,
Leaving nothing left unturned
You sit alone in silence
Make the rules up as you go
Her Jack, Your Queen, no home
Solitaire
Temporary lovers
Solitaire
One by one they cover,
(oh they)cover for each other
And the numbers say it all
Only then you'll know
Solitaire
Five to four, two by two they go
Four to five, how long can they go
They move from place to place,
Same looks but different faces
Her Jack, your Queen, no home
CHORUS
You can have it all laid in front of you
And still you cannot see
Sometimes you miss the obvious
When you don't want to believe
That it's over
