    Story Behind the Song
As with many songs, this song was inspired by a disatisfaction with the status quo. Anyone creative or trying to make a difference deals with feeling "smothered" by the opinions and deprecation of others. This song is a plea from those who are reaching out or up for something better to those whose mediocrity is oppressive. Thus, a room to breathe in. Boy, sometimes it is harder to describe your songs than to write them, eh? Thank you for listening.

    VERSE
Hey won't you give me a break man
    I've lost all feeling
I'm tired of playing the cards
    That you've been dealing
And I'm tired of hanging on the cross
    For your religion

    PRECHORUS
See your walls they're creeping in on me
    Your walls of mediocrity
    How they smother me
    How they choke me

    CHORUS
    So could you give me
    A room to breathe in
    Where I can have things
    The way I like them
    Where I'm forgiven
    So could you give me
    A room to breathe in
    And could you let me
    Just hide away
I just might come back and play
    someday

    VERSE
    Hey won't you give me
    A break man
    I've given all I can
I see the beauty in this life
    I watch you crush it
    In your hands

    PRECHORUS
    See my feet bleed
From the glass on your floor
    My mind won't clear your
    lies anymore
And I've forgotten what it is to try

    CHORUS
    BRIDGE

    See your walls they're
    Creeping in on me
    Your walls of mediocrity
    How they smother me
    How they choke me

    CHORUS to end
