Story Behind the Song
Written by Gary Revel due to a suggestion by Jerry Guthrie. Jerry had suggested to Gary that they get together and write a song to be titled "Treat America Like A Woman". Gary and Jerry did not find the time to get together to do that but Gary wrote this song in the early 1980's while he and Jerry were still neighbors at the Time Motel on Western Avenue in Hollywood, California. Because of this Jerry has sometimes been given wo-writer credit on the song. Recorded by Gary Revel using the Recording Artist name Czar Tuck with a studio group he called the Zoids-lead guitar, Ronny Hershewe, in 1985 in the Sound Factory in Hollywood and released as a single on Top's Records the same year. The song received several awards including one from the Southern California Motion Picture Council and the record was dedicated to First Lady Nancy Reagan at a ceremony at the White House West in Santa Barbara, California in 1985.
Lyrics
TREAT AMERICA LIKE A LADY
(Gary Revel)
She came from a call, made to freedom
Broke the tyranny of King George's Scheme
If we ever forget, she's a lady
We'll lose our hope and our dream
Treat America, Like A Lady
Treat her like a lady everyday
Treat America, Like A Lady
Or someone will steal her away
Many men have died for her honor
Shed their blood to keep her brave and free
Though some have cursed her name in anger
She's A lady, she'll always be
Treat America, Like A Lady
Treat her like a lady everyday
Treat America, Like A Lady
Or someone will steal her away
Red, White and Blue, are her colors
Dress her proud for all the world to see
Hold her up, don't ever let her touch the ground
Treat her like a lady, or let her be
Treat America, Like A Lady
Treat her like a lady everyday
Treat America, Like A Lady
Or someone will steal her away
